Once the dolphins are found, their behaviour is monitored and swimmers can only enter the water if the dolphins are determined to be safe for swimming with. Port Stephens – Great Lakes Marine Park
Covering 98,200 hectares, The Port Stephens – Great Lakes Marine Park is the largest in New South Wales. It extends from Cape Hawke all the way to Birubi Beach and includes Port Stephens, the Karuah River, the Myall River, Myall Lake and Smiths Lake.
