Cambewarra
Located on the South Coast of New South Wales, Cambewarra is a scenic rural town, famous for its lush greenery and views over the northern end of the Shoalhaven. Cambewarra was named by the Dharawal People, who are the traditional custodians of this area. Cambewarra mountain was once believed to be a volcano, hence its name meaning ‘mountain of fire’. It is also part of the Shoalhaven wine region, home to Cambewarra Winery Estate.
Cambewarra Mountain
Cambewarra Mountain is the town’s stand out feature, with the lookout featuring 145km of panoramic views of the Shoalhaven region, all the way from Coolangatta Mountain in the north, to Sussex Inlet in the south. The top of the mountain also sits 678 metres above sea level, providing stunning views of the eastern coastline. Cambewarra Lookout opened in September 1909, after Cambewarra Public School teacher Roderick Mcgregor started offering to take people to the area and use his telescope. September 2019 marked 110 years since its opening.

Right at the top of Cambewarra mountain is a cafe called The Lookout, offering delicious food and drinks while you enjoy the panoramic views. Open seven days a week for breakfast, morning tea, lunch, coffee and evening drinks, it is always a popular spot to visit for both tourists and locals alike. For breakfast, there is a range of sweet and savoury options available, including Smashed Avocado on Turkish and Scones with Homemade Jam & Cream. The Lookout has something for everyone to enjoy, including coffee, milkshakes for the kids, or beer & wine for the adults. The Lookout is also available for private dining, but only for groups of ten. Enjoy a breakfast banquet with as many mimosas as you can drink, private lunches from Monday to Wednesday, or evening tapas, wine & beer.
