Weekend Activities started in 2019 as a travel blog for people who do not get long holidays. The idea has not changed: two days is enough, if you know where to point the car.

Every place on this site is somewhere we have actually been.
If we have not walked the track, eaten the meal or taken the photo, we do not write the guide.

What we do
The places worth a Saturday
We cover the places worth a Saturday or a whole weekend: restaurants and wineries, boutique hotels and the occasional strange Airbnb, beaches, bushwalks and the lookouts that are worth the early start. Mostly New South Wales, increasingly the rest of the country.
We are a small team of curious travellers rather than a publishing house, which is the point.
Weekend Activities is owned and published by Webics Pty Ltd, a web and marketing company based in Nowra on the NSW South Coast. That is why so much of the site points south of Wollongong: the coverage started at home, and it still leans that way.
Our editorial policy
How the site works, so you know what you are reading
We visit
We go first and write second. Nothing here is rewritten from a press release or stitched together from other people’s reviews.
We date everything
Every page carries the date it was last checked. If a page has not been looked at in a while, you can see that and weigh it accordingly.
We take things down
When a business closes or a walk shuts, the page comes down or gets corrected. We do not leave dead listings up to catch search traffic.
We do not guess prices
We do not quote prices we have not checked. Where we are not certain, we give a band rather than a number, because a wrong price is worse than no price.
We label paid placements
Some articles are commissioned by the business they cover. Those are marked, every time, on the article itself. Paying does not buy a good review and it does not buy a ranking on a list.
Who writes it
Editor
Darcy Nolan edits Weekend Activities. She grew up on the South Coast and has never quite got over it, which is why so much of the site points south of Wollongong. A good weekend, in her view, is an early swim, a long lunch somewhere you had to book, and a walk that ends at a view worth the climb. She will drive three hours for a bakery she has heard something about, and she is usually the one arguing that the shoulder season is better than summer.
Every guide carries its author's name at the top.
