Hervey Bay sits in the sheltered water behind K’gari, which is why the whale watching here is different. Humpbacks come into the bay and stay, sometimes for days, rather than swimming past on migration. The season runs roughly July to October.
The bay is protected so the water is flat, which makes it good for families and for anyone who does not love a rough boat.
