Moona Moona Creek

Moona Moona Creek comes out at the southern end of Huskisson Beach, on the way towards Vincentia, and it is where people with toddlers end up.

The reason is the tide. The creek mouth spreads out over sand into water that is ankle to knee deep for a long way, with no waves and almost no current when the tide is in. Children who are not swimmers yet can be put down in it and left to get on with things, which is not true of most of the bay.

The reserve behind it has barbecues, shade and outdoor showers, so it works as a whole morning rather than a quick stop. It backs onto the Huskisson Beach Tourist Park.

Two notes. The water is best on a rising or full tide, and thin and muddy on a low one, so it is worth checking the tide before you load the car. And the creek section is not a dog area, so if the dog is with you, stay on the parts of the foreshore where they are allowed.
