The Shoalhaven region is located on the South Coast of NSW, and encompasses 49  beautiful towns including Berry, Currarong, Huskisson, Jervis Bay, Kangaroo Valley, Mollymook and Shoalhaven Heads. With 109 picturesque beaches, it is a well loved and visited destination for its relaxed surf culture and stand out marine park. The Shoalhaven is also home to incredible National Parks, where visitors can embark on coastal walking tracks, whale watching, waterfall hunting and rainforest exploration to name a few.

There are many different activities to be had in the Shoalhaven, but animal lovers, this one’s for you! The Shoalhaven Zoo can be found on the banks of the Shoalhaven River, surrounded by breathtaking bushland and natural rock formations. Within the Shoalhaven Zoo, live a wide range of native and exotic animals including Lions, Saltwater Crocodiles, Koalas and Dingoes. A day at the zoo is one to be enjoyed by all members of the family, young and old. Open 7 days a week from 9:00am to 5:00pm, what are you waiting for?

The Shoalhaven Zoo is the largest native animal park on the South Coast of NSW, home to over 100 species of mammals, birds and reptiles. The stand outs of the zoo would have to be the four White Lions, also known as the Roarsome Foursome! Natives of the Timbavati region in South Africa, White Lions can grow up to 4 feet tall and weigh up to 300kgs. So it’s no wonder these residents are highly sought after. The Shoalhaven Zoo is also home to many other animals of all different shapes and sizes, including:

  • Emus
  • Koalas
  • Dingoes
  • Green Iguanas
  • Maned Wolfs
  • Saltwater Crocodiles 
  • Meerkats
  • Water Buffalo
  • Camels

Experiences:

Lion Feeding Encounter

If you’re feeling brave, the Lion Feeding Encounter is for you! Get up close and personal to the Shoalhaven Zoo’s most fearsome residents, the White Lions. With the help of a keeper, you will even get to feed them. This experience runs daily from 2:30pm, costing $80 for one person and $150 for two. 

Monkey Madness Experience

If monkey business is more your thing, you can’t miss the Monkey Madness Experience. Get the opportunity to hand feed the Shoalhaven Zoo’s adorable and cheeky Marmoset Troupe. You will be joined by a keeper who will be more than happy to answer all of your questions. This experience runs daily at 10:30am, 12:30pm and 2:30pm, costing $80 for one person and $150 for two.

Meerkat Mania Encounter

Everyone loves the mischievous nature of the Meerkat. Experience this up close and personal with the Meerkat Mania Encounter at the Shoalhaven Zoo. Sit down and let the Meerkats crawl and snuggle around you while you hand feed them their favourite food. This experience runs daily at 10:30am, 12:30pm and 2:30pm, costing $80 for one person and $150 for two.
